Opening is a solo exhibition by Michael Benedetti. Michael’s prints and paperworks look at how we understand signs and symbols found in ancient cultures and architecture. Using aspects of mysticism quelled from the Aztec, Egyptian and other ancient societies he combines his own illustrative style inspired by comic books, art nouveau and science fiction.
Born in southwestern Pennsylvania, Michael Benedetti grew up in a city that boasts one of the last remaining steel factories in the United States. Michael quickly became interested in art through comic books, architecture, and design while being influenced by Pittsburgh’s balance of broken down factories and rolling green hills. He is about to enter into his third year of graduate school in the printmaking program at UGA.
In celebration of 40 years of Art in Downtown Athens, The Lyndon House Arts Center is introducing a new exhibition program, the Lounge Gallery.
